Is it okay to used an expired inhaler?

Last night I had an asthma attack within the middle of the night. I didn't have my regular inhaler, simply an old one. I used it and it expired on January 2010. It worked though. Is it okay to use an expired inhaler?
Thanks!

You can but you really shouldn’t. Over time it become less effective. So I would seize a new one ASAP. Source(s): Asthmatic.
Its not good to use anything expired =/
Yes. The only difference beside expired mediction is it is just not as strong. You can still use it, but the effectiveness will be smaller number. Since your just expired in Jan, it be okay to use for once, since you had it around, but i would throw it away. When it comes to your breathing... you dont want to take probability with that!
its not that it wont work it just wont be as influential i wouldn't suggest throwing it out until you have your other medication or you just want to hold it around just in bag though it might be more dull
